Failure Proof System Configuration

Compared to other industries, system security by far carries the highest value for the automobile supplier industry. Even a single shutdown at the customer's would generally mean high additional costs due to setup expenses and contract penalties. In the JIT-Factory sector high-availability solutions are required, which offer almost 100 % failure security. In order to meet this challenge, FOSS-Automotive is installed on systems with mirroring disks and double computer systems and configured in such a way that the system is available around the clock, in 3 shift-operation with online-data security and without exclusive access to the database for requirement calculation and periodic changes. The communication link can also be critical. If a line is interrupted, FOSS-Automotive makes emergency strategies available, which e.g. allow transmitting by fax, etc..The requested data can then be entered by dialogue means, so that a smooth continuation of the production is enabled at the vendor's site. Alternatively, shell construction data are intermediately saved on a PC, which in case of an emergency can be processed further by entering the vehicle license plate number and current number.
