The most important questions and answers about time tracking, access control, and absence scheduling:

The federal government is planning a new law on time tracking and, at the same time, a move toward more flexible working hours that would allow up to 12 hours of work per day. In any case, time tracking must be done electronically in the future. If you’re still using analog methods, it’s time to consider making the switch. If you’re looking for a new time-tracking system, choose one that’s as flexible as possible, can meet all your needs, and is updated regularly.

It must at least track each employee’s actual working hours—including start and end times and break times. Depending on your specific requirements and industry, it may also make sense to implement additional functions in the ERP system. Examples include shift scheduling, production data collection, access permissions and controls, and absence planning. Take advantage of the system features that best suit your needs, and if in doubt, seek advice on what makes sense for your company.

Depending on its range of features, a time-tracking system can also provide you with valuable insights into statistics on working hours. For example, you can analyze which days have a particularly high number of employees on sick leave or identify other patterns in absences that would otherwise go unnoticed. For areas of the company where security is particularly critical, it makes sense to link access control to time tracking so that only those individuals who are supposed to be there at that time are granted access. This is typically achieved using appropriate hardware that interfaces with the time tracking system, such as the terminals from our hardware partner dormakaba.

The requirement to track working hours is based on a Federal Labor Court (BAG) ruling dated September 13, 2022, which states that working hours must be recorded. It is not sufficient to merely provide the means to do so. Employers are now required to implement a system capable of tracking working hours down to the minute. There is also currently discussion that this tracking must be done electronically. A corresponding draft bill is in the works. There is currently no prescribed format for how working hours should be recorded.

ORDAT.ERP is tailored to small and medium-sized manufacturing companies. If you’re looking for a system in this sector that offers maximum flexibility and allows you to digitally map a wide variety of processes, you should take a closer look at ORDAT.ERP pze and schedule a consultation.

All times can be recorded down to the minute and are stored in an audit-proof manner. This ensures that you comply with current legal requirements. Through continuous system development, we plan to continue supporting you in meeting all requirements in the future.
