As a successful company, you have to keep track of countless aspects in order to make the right decisions. The competition never sleeps, customer requirements are constantly changing, and internal processes in production, logistics, marketing, and other areas are becoming increasingly complex. The amount of data generated in companies is simply immense. In order to derive meaningful insights from the vast amount of data, it must first be processed and analyzed – either manually or with the help of suitable software that saves you and your employees a lot of work.
Excel – still relevant today?
Hard to believe, but true: even today, Excel spreadsheets are often still used as the solution of choice for data analysis and the presentation of annual reports. Data is often collected or typed in manually by several users – simultaneous work is not possible, and in the worst case, at some point you no longer know exactly which version is the correct one. Once data reaches a certain level of complexity, errors and inconsistencies become almost impossible to eliminate. The time required is enormous, and extensive knowledge is needed to prepare different data sets in Excel. Not to mention that the reports are already out of date by the time they are sent. What else can you say except, “Goodbye, Excel!”
BI tools: more reliable, faster, more up-to-date
Business intelligence software can be used to display business-critical data from all departments, areas, and systems quickly, clearly, and transparently. A good BI tool provides an optimal overview of all current developments – ideally on a user interface that is easy to understand and use. Typical weaknesses such as transposed numbers and input errors are a thing of the past with special BI software. With just a few clicks, actual statuses, trends, and opportunities can be retrieved and made available – for well-founded, data-based decisions and a quick response to market and delivery changes.
